Prevention of CoVID-19

Many countries around the world have seen cases of CoVID-19 and several have seen outbreaks. The situation is unpredictable. Stay aware of the latest information on the CoVID-19 outbreak, available on the WHO website through the national and local public health authorities. One can reduce the chances of being infected or spread CoVID-19 by taking some simple precautions.

Precaution & Why?

Stay at home and follow the latest updates of your health authority - National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on the situation in your area. Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility. This will also protect you and help prevent the spread of viruses and other infections.

Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water - Washing hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.

Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing - When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain the virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, and be infected.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth - Hands touch surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose, and mouth, which can make you sick.

Follow good respiratory hygiene. Cover your nose and mouth with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Dispose the used tissue immediately - Droplets spread the virus. Good respiratory hygiene will protect people around you from cold, flu, and CoVID-19.

Keep up to date information on the latest CoVID-19 news - It is important to protect the elderly in the house by knowing the nearest isolation centers in the locality, emergency contact numbers & email addresses, and important health tips released by the local health authorities.
