Murg Awadhi Korma

1.2 kg chicken
10 gms yellow butter
10 small cardamom
Salt according to your taste
100 gms onion
30 gms garlic
8 green chilies
20 pieces of almonds
225 gms yogurt
120 ml. cream
3 gms small cardamom powder
5 gms chopped green coriander
Few silver foil (chandi verk)


Step 1: To make paste, chop garlic and onion after peeling it off. Chop green chilies in long pieces. Blanch almonds and peel it off. Now mix all ingredients and blend it in 50 ml.

Step 2: Now pour yogurt in a bowl and beat it up. Melt butter in a pan. Roast cardamom in low flame for 30 second. Mix almond paste and stir it well.

Step 3: Add chicken pieces. Mix curd, salt and 750 ml water and stir it well. Cover it and cook it well till it gets soft. Stir it well.

Step 4: Increase the flame and pour cream in above preparation. Now boil it. Add cardamom powder and stir it well.

Step 5: Take it out from flame and decorate it with silver foil. Now your murg Awadhi korma is ready to serve.


This is yet another Awadhi royal delicacy which is tasty and treasure trove for non-vegetarian lovers. Although there are many variations, it is normally braised meat or veggies with yogurt and a mixture of spices incorporated to make a savory sauce. Zing of cardamom powder makes it lip smacking. Try this chicken recipe with your beloved one.
