Servings: 4
Time to Prepare: 20minutes

3 cups Chana Dal/Senaga Pappu (soak for 1 hr)
Green Chillis (paste or chopped finely)
1 Tbsp Coriander powder
1 Tbsp Ginger Garlic paste
3 Sprigs Curry leaves
1 Bunch Fresh Cilantro (chopped)
1 tsp Garam Masala Powder (Optional)
Salt for taste
oil for frying

Soak the dal for an hour.(Soaking overnight is a good option)

Grind it to a coarse paste (not smooth)with no water or very little water added.

Add all the above mentioned ingredients to the dal paste and mix well.

Take a deep fry pan and add oil required to deep fry.

Take a leamon size of paste into hand and press it slowly into a round shape.

Make sure the oil is hot. You can test by dropping a tiny piece of paste. It should float and cause bubbles.. When the oil is hot, reduce the heat to medium high and gently release the above made shaped dal paste into the oil.

Remove the vada when they are golden brown.

Serve them hot with coconut/tamato chutney or ketchup.

For crispy vada's add a table spoon of rice or corn flour.
