Question:Hello there , We are a family of three- Mom(50), Dad(61) and myself(26). We plan to move to the US permanently in 6 to 8 months. We need some guidance from you: Housing,Financial and Medical related. Housing- Please suggest safe neighborhoods with high Indian population in Dallas Metro area, preferably town home, good school district not required. Financials- Will there be any job opportunities for my Dad at this age( Even $1200 a month works)? Please advice. Medical- Since my parents will be old, could you suggest some healthcare options for them ? Please provide some details. General Question- In general will parents of this age be able to adapt to the Dallas Lifestyle if they live in an Indian Community? Thanks a million for your help. -Kanika

Answer By :

General expenditure for a family of 4 is dollar 3000..jobs are as hard to find as in INDIA ..Unless you are satisfied working with kroger, walmart etc which pay 7.5/8 dollars an hour..which is really hard work standing 8-10 hrs..Irving locality has lot of indian population..Medical is really expensive here and you may have to shell out $400-500 depending on your income. we too shifted permanently here but i think we were wrong this time. Its your independent decision but I think if given a chance i would like to move back as you feel quite lonely over here..hard to adapt for parents over 50.Be wise!! You and only you have to take this hard decision ..THINGS ARE not Hunky dory here as it seems while living in India.
