They often start for small reasons – like sitting next to someone in class, sharing lunch, or playing the same games. But these friendships teach us some of life’s biggest lessons.
When we are kids, friendships are pure and simple. We learn to trust, share, and care without expecting anything in return. We may fight with friends but patch up within minutes, showing us that arguments are never bigger than our bond. These little experiences teach us how to handle relationships when we grow up – they show us how to forgive, understand, and accept others just as they are.
A lot of our confidence as adults comes from childhood friendships. When friends cheered for us during a race, praised our drawings, or stood by us when we felt low, it made us feel worthy. Even small moments – like when a friend defended us, included us in their group, or laughed with us until our stomach hurt – shaped who we are today.
Childhood friendships also teach us loyalty. They show us how beautiful it is to stand by someone without any hidden reason. Even as adults, we look for that same feeling of safety and acceptance in our relationships.
These friends become anchors in our life. Even after many years, when we meet them, we feel like the same carefree kids again. They remind us of our dreams, our innocence, and the pure happiness we once had.
In simple words, childhood friends are not just people from our past.
They helped build our emotional world. They shaped our understanding of love, trust, and support. The laughter, secrets, and even tears we shared with them are part of us forever, giving us warmth and a sense of belonging as we go through life.
I am writing this article purely based on my own experiences with my childhood friends. Our friendship began in 1994 when we were in 6th standard, and even today, we remain deeply connected. We have always stood by each other through every tough time. No matter how busy life gets, we make it a point to meet at least 5 to 6 times a year. I am truly grateful for social media, as it helps us stay in touch and keeps our friendship alive despite the distances.
