The 50th Khajuraho Dance Festival starts in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh.

The Khajuraho Dance Festival is globally recognized as a venerable tradition. This year, it commenced on February 21, 2024, inaugurated by Mohan Yadav, the Chief Minister of the state. Notable figures such as State President BD Sharma and Tourism and Culture Department Minister Dharmendra Singh were present at the festival's outset. Originating in 1975, the festival is organized annually by the Culture Department in collaboration with Bhopal's Ustad Alauddin's Music and Art Academy, along with the support of the Madhya Pradesh Patan Department and the Archaeological Survey of India.


In 2024, the festival is scheduled to run from February 21 to February 25. Festivities will unfold on the expansive Muktakashi stage within the Western Temple Group Complex, nestled between the Kandariya Mahadev Temple of the Chandel period and the Devi Jagdamba Temple (Holy Temples Of Madhya Pradesh), showcasing a variety of classical dances. The program commenced with the Odissi Shastri dance, paying homage to Lord Shiva.


The Chief Minister of the state, Dr. Mohan Yadav, took the opportunity to reveal significant initiatives for Khajuraho, which encompassed plans for establishing an institute specifically dedicated to dance and music.During his address, he highlighted the inception of a Gurukul in Khajuraho, aiming to enrich the ancient heritage of art, music, literature, and dance. As per the official website, the dance festival ranks among the nation's most esteemed events, serving not only as a traditional celebration but also as a prominent tourist draw in India.
