Spicy instant idlis

Split mung beans 1 cup
Urad dal 1/4 cup
Green chilis to taste chopped.
Onion 1 chopped.
Cilantro some chopped
Ginger a smallpiece finely chopped
Oil 2 or 3 teaspoons
Mustard a little
Jeera a little
Urad dal 1/4teaspoon
Baking powder 1/4teaspoon


1 Wash both the dals and soak them together in water for 2 hours.

After 2 hrs drain the water and blend both into coarse batter with little water. Like idli batter thick.

Add salt and baking powder. Keep aside.

In a pan prepare seasoning with oil, jeera, mustard and little urad dal.

Add the onions, cilantro, ginger and chilies and sauté for a minute and switch off the fire.

Add the onion mixture to the dal and mix well.

Prepare idlis and serve with ghee. It has spice so no need of chutney. This is an instant idli no need to ferment.

With one cup of dal you can prepare 12 to 16 idlis.

Very nutritional. No fat and steamed cooked too.
