Cabbage Vada

Urad Dal 1 cup (Soaked)
Cabbage Finely Chopped 1 cup
Green Chllies 3-4
Ginger 1 small piece
Cumin 1 tsp
Asafoetida 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves (Optional) 1 tablespoon
Salt - According to taste
Oil - Sufficient for deep fry


Soak the mentioned quantity of Urad Dal for 5-6 hrs. Drain the water and grind the dal. The batter should be a bit thinner than regular vadas (Not too thin though).
Grind the chillies, ginger and cumin seperately into a coarse paste(The small pieces and cumin should be visible). Add this paste as well with cumin to the batter and mix well and set aside for 15-20 min.
Heat the Oil and make the vadas and fry till golden brown.
Enjoy the vada with Ginger or Tomato Chutney.


You can alter the amounts of Urad Dal and Cabbage according to taste.
