Jaggery 1 Cup
Sweet potato 1 Cup
Sesame seeds 1 Teaspoons
Rice flour 3/4 Cup
Fresh coconut paste 1-2 Teaspoons
Cardamom powder 1 Pinch
Ghee 1 Teaspoons
Oil to Fry
Rice flour 1 Cup
Ginger(finely chopped 1/2 Teaspoons
Red chilly flake 1 Teaspoons
Curry leaves(chopped)1/4 Cup
Ground nuts 1/4 Cup
Butter 1 Piece
Asafoetida 1 Pinch
Salt to Taste
Chana dal 1/4 Cup


1. Take a pan and add jaggery, little hot water and boil to make a soft ball consistency.
2. Switch off flame add sweet potato, sesame seeds, rice flour and mix nicely add fresh coconut paste mix it to make a nice dough.
3. Add cardamom powder, ghee and mix nicely, transfer into a bowl.
4. Divide dough into small round dumpling and and press it on ghee applied polythene sheet with a flat bowl into flat round.
5. For some round dumpling press sesame seeds in center and press it into a flat bowl into flat round and deep fry in oil and transfer into a paper towel. 6. For savory: Take a bowl and add rice flour, ginger, red chilly flake, curry leaves, crushed ground nuts, butter, 1 tsp oil, asafoetida, salt, soaked chana dal and mix nicely to make a dough.
7. Divide dough into small round dumpling .
8. Take dumpling and and press it on oil applied polythene sheet with a flat bowl into flat round and deep fry in hot oil, transfer into a paper plate. 9. Now Sweet potato adhirasam with savory is ready to serve.


Adhirasam is a traditional South Indian sweet which is usually made in Diwali times. It's very popular sweet which is almost made in every home.
