Spicy Palav with Thick Poha and Vegetables

Main Ingredient: Thick Poha and Vegetables Palav
Time to Prepare: 10 - 15 Minutes.
Diffculty: Very easy and tasty.


1. Thick Poha 2 cups
2. Oil 4 tablespoons
3 Cumin 1/4 teaspoon
4 Urad dal 1/2 teaspoon
5 Cilantro some chopped.
6 Vegatables- Beans (4) Carrot (1)Peas(12- 15)
7 Onion 1 chopped
8 Tomato 1 big chopped.
9 Garam masala powder 1/4 teaspoon
10 Red chili powder to taste.
11 Sugar 1 teaspoon or small piece jaggery
12 Salt to taste.


1. Cut the vegetables into small pieces and cook with very little water.Keep aside.
2. In a deep pan put oil, cumin,urad dal and saute on slow fire.
3 Once the dal changes its color, add the onions and cilantro and saute till crispy.
4 Add tomatoes and saute till soft.
5 Add the salt, masala powder and red chili powder and cook for a minute.
6 Add the cooked vegetables, salt, sugar, mix well. Cook for one minute. Keep aside.
7 Put the Poha in a deeo sieve, hold under the running water to wash. Once all the water is drained out add the poha to the vegetable mixture. Mix well. Keep the mixture on the stove and cook on slow fire for one more minute.Palav is done. Keep it closed for one minute and then serve.

Nutritional info

Use many colored vegetables and enhance the nutrition value of the dish.


You can add bell pepper or beets a small piece or any squash.
Some raw coconut for protein.
Some butter for flavor.
