Do not allow water to accumulate anywhere in your yard for more than two days. Cans, buckets, pots, plastic swimming pools and tires are all containers that tend to collect and hold water. Removing these items will help control the number of mosquitoes that hatch in your yard.

Ants In The Kitchen
To prevent ant from returning, place a few pieces of mint gum around point of infestation. They can't stand the mint.
Make sure you place your baby on his back to sleep as this reduces the risk of SIDS.
Nappy Rash #1
Clean the genital areas of the baby, every time after he/she defecates. Allow the area to dry completely, before putting on a new diaper.Change the nappy of your baby frequently, even if a nappy can soak the urine for a long time.
Infant Jaundice #2
Sunbath is an effective remedy to treat jaundice in newborns. Remove the clothes of your baby and place him/her under direct sunlight or in a warm room for about 10 minutes. Lay your baby on a blanket, under the window, so that the sun's rays bathe his/her entire body. Be sure to block your newborn's to avoid direct sunlight. The best time to sunbathe the baby is early morning hours, between 7 am and 8 am.

Breastfeeding is one of the most effective ways to reduce the amount of bilirubin in the blood of the newborn, because mother's milk contains some of the important nutrients required for the development of the baby's functional organs. Breast-feed your baby every two hours post birth. Frequent feeding can help the baby pass the excess bilirubin through his poop and thus, reduce the jaundice symptoms.

Laying on left side, drinking lots of water and reduced intake of salt will avoid high blood pressure during pregnancy.

Sleeping on your back when pregnant may harm your back, as the added weight sits straight on your spinal cord. It's best if you sleep on your side, preferably on your left side. This position also ensures optimal oxygen flow to your baby.

To prevent stains inside pressure cooker put squeezed lemon peels at the bottom while cooking.

Keeping a small piece of hing (asafoetida) in the same container will store chili powder for long time.

After a perm, never brush your hair. Instead comb hair gently.

Avoid brushing wet hair. This will cause the hair to stretch and finally break. Finger-dry, or use a wide-toothed comb instead of a brush to gently remove the knots.
Foiling Slugs with Cucumbers
Cucumber slices on a piece of tin foil will attract the grubs and other bugs. They eat the cucumber, can't digest it and die.
Red ornaments to save tomatoes
When the tomatoes turned red, the birds would attack them for nutrition. Hanging bright red Christmas ornaments on the tomato wire baskets. Birds would peck the bright red ornaments, give up and fly away.(Just purchase a box of them when they are on sale post holiday.)
Outdated vitamin tablets - good for plants
Scatter outdated vitamins/herbs, etc. (or buy cheap ones to use if you don't have outdated ones when needed) in the garden patch. The plants do great.

You can avoid kitchen knives from getting blunt by using a wooden board while chopping.
Ripen fruits quickly
You can ripen fruits quickly by wrapping them in newspaper and keeping them in a warm place for 2-3 days.
