Refrigerator Maintenance
Twice a year pull out your refrigerator, unplug it and vacuum the coils located either in the front or back, more often if you have shedding pets. If possible, allow a 2-inch space around the top and sides to let the coils breathe.

Washing Machine Maintenance
Once a month, run an empty hot water wash to break down any built up residue.

Guilt free oil fries : when your are making fries,papads etc add little salt to the oil and fry so that fries will not absorb lot of oil

You can have chewing gum while cutting onion to avoid tears.

To keep the corriander leaves fresh for longer time, wash it and put on the tissue paper once it is dry without water , roll in the aluminium foil and keep it in fridge.

Celery Storage The best way to store fresh celery is to wrap it in aluminum foil and put it in the refrigerator--it will keep for weeks.

Garlic Peeling Microwave garlic cloves for 15 seconds and the skins slip
right off.

Roast Cooking Tip A roast with the bone in will cook faster than a boneless roast - the bone carries the heat to the inside of the roast quicker.

Meat Slicing To slice meat into thin strips, as for Chinese dishes -
partially freeze and it will slice easily.

Hair Care Tie a scarf on your hair when it is windy. This would avoid tangles, knots and breakage of your hair.

Toothing Make small pieces of potato and cool them in your fridge. Give you child pieces of cold potato and tell him to place them inside his mouth on the tooth that is paining. The cold will sooth the pain. This works well with cucumber too.

Baby Costipation Just keep your baby on his back and firmly hold his legs in a half bent position. Next, start moving his legs in a manner, as if he is paddling a bicycle. See that you do it gently. Maintain a steady pace, neither do it too fast, nor make it too slow. This will help in controlling your baby constipation.

To get crisp, golden dosas add a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds to the urad dal and grind it.

Avoiding Onion Tears Chill onion is refrigerator before cutting to avoid tears. One other way to avoid tears is to soak peeled onion is water before cutting.

Controlling oil forming while deep frying While make any deep fried dish, if the hot oil starts foaming and rises in the pan, add a small piece of tamarind to the oil. This will prevent foaming and spill over.

Cooking Rice To avoid sticky rice, soak washed rice in water for at least ten minutes before cooking. A teaspoon of oil can be added to get separate grains of cooked rice.

Retaining Vitamins
When you soak rice and urad dal for idlis and dosas, wash everything thoroughly before soaking. Later use the soaked water while grinding. If you wash rice and dal after soaking you will lose most of the vitamins.

Candle Fix candle in a container. Fill half the container with water before lighting the candle. This way, the candle lasts longer and the overflowed wax is easier to remove from the water. The container becomes easy to clean too.

Emery Paper To make Aluminium vessels look good again, rub them with emery paper. Mere washing can't remove the black stains.

Sketch Pen To get a dry sketch pen working again, pour three or four drops of hot water into the sponge tube inside and wait a while.
